Slendertone Connects Abs

A toning belt? For a yoga teacher? Really?? Ok, so before you start to scream and shout that toning belts and yoga REALLY don’t go together then I have to say that I agree. Well sort of…

Yoga is about what you feel on the inside and the more you do the more your outside improves and the less you care! I’m very happy with my figure BUT what I’m struggling with a little bit after the birth of my two kids is my core strength. I’ve incorporated more pilates techniques into my practice and I’ve recently ramped up my pelvic floor exercises but of course I’m willing to try anything!

I’m also naturally really curious so I wanted to know what the fuss is all about so I’ve tried the Slendertone Connect Abs which promises stronger abs in 4-6 weeks.

It’s Slendertone’s strongest toning belt and 30 minutes equals

  • 202 targeted sit-up. targeting rectus abdominis,
  • 202 targeting transverse abdmominis
  • 202 targeting internal obliques
  • 202 targeting external obliques

That’s a lot of sit ups for someone who usually doesn’t do sit up!!

The App

The belt is controlled by the app that you download on your phone and it’s super easy to use. It shows you the progress and you can choose between different programmes. I chose the Fitness one which is one of the stronger programmes so maybe should have started with the Post Natal one (even though my son is nearly 3…)

The only downside I saw was that it’s difficult to have more than one user. I wanted to share this (painful) experience with my lovely husband but as it works via Bluetooth it wasn’t quite so straightforward to go back and forth between users. My husband therefore got out of it (for now…)

6 weeks of torture

If you think that using a toning belt is the lazy option well I can tell you it’s definitely not! This is hard work!! It’s really hard to describe but maybe think of a TENS machine (I loved to use it during labour to get through contractions) placed on your tummy on permanent boost x 1000!!

It did actually make me think of contractions but probably more the Braxton Hicks, non painful but painful ones (sorry guys, you will never understand). The setting go from 0-100 and the maximum I made it to was 60!

My Verdict

Well I definitely have to say that the thing works! It was working my deep core muscles that would have been very difficult to access otherwise. I feel stronger and my tummy looks flatter than before! It was really easy to set up but it’s definitely not the easy option of getting a good workout!

Will I continue to use it? Probably not to be honest… no because I don’t think it works (we’ve seen that it works!) but because my yoga practice gives me a lot more pleasure than the torture of the Slendertone. I’m therefore passing it on to my dear husband…
