Today I’m going to talk about something very important - How to have it all.

My Mummy sometimes talks about things like how she tries to do lots of things but can’t actually get anything done properly. It’s a bit boring though… all Mummy blah blah blah, toddler so much work blah blah blah.

Don’t forget what’s really important here: it’s all about you!

I’m going to share with you some very important things today about how you can have it all. Not doing it all because Mummy does that already. But having it all. I mean everything. Mummy’s attention, other people’s attention and ALL THE TOYS!

Attention

Mummy’s attention

Getting Mummy’s attention is not that hard of course How to get your Mum to turn on the TV contains some very useful tips. Climbing on stuff, usually helps and getting hold of sharp kitchen things or markers is usually very effective! There are many other ways of course so don’t be afraid to be creative! Preferably on walls…

Be aware that Mummy’s attention span gets shorter towards bedtime. This lady from Story Storks who wrote about Little Ones at Bedtime has got some very good tips on how to get around this and keep her focus on you and only you!

Other People’s attention

Other people’s attention is a bit trickier. You have to choose your target carefully. Old ladies are very receptive for playing peek-a-boo on the bus. Men with headphones in their ears not so much. If you’re under three then it’s a bit easier as you’re extremely cute.

If you’re over three you have to resort to saying funny things to strangers. Preferably things about your family “my daddy has a big tummy” or “my mummy has red knickers” works well. Also shouting “Daddy, stop touching me!” when your daddy wants to take your hand to cross the street will work a treat if you want to get random strangers’ attention!

The Toys

Toys at home or playgroup

Have you heard about “sharing is caring”? Well I think that’s stupid. Of course I care, I care very much about myself and that’s why I don’t share!

If you see something that you like in a playgroup. DO NOT LET GO OF IT! If it’s something you can sit on, then sit on it! When someone comes along and wants to take it you hide it in a corner. Smacking and biting also works on a short term basis but long term it might mean you will never leave the house so I wouldn’t recommend it.

A new toy

If you want a specific toy then you might have to be a bit more strategic. My older sister is very good at this but I’m learning! Check out 8 reasons I love my sister! She is a genius!

Repeat that you want the toy or accessory frequently. Let’s say you want a bell for your scooter. You mention it first thing in the morning, before breakfast, after breakfast, before going to bed a few times more during the day and of course every time you see a scooter in the street, on TV or when you’re out riding your scooter. Throw in a few tantrums and then make sure there is something that Mummy wants to bribe you to do and voila!

Remember: you can have it all if you really want to! Be confident, forceful and persistent. Finish with a cute smile and the world is yours!!

To these are my tips for you today and I really hope that you found them useful. Don’t be shy to ask for advice. I’ve got it all figured out and I’ll be sharing lots more tips with you soon!
