Outlook Auto Shade – Review

It took us 12 hours to get to our destination (including breaks, and two hours on the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk) and I’m happy to say we survived it without any major incidents or meltdowns!

As we’ve only had a car for the last couple of months we are not that experienced in packing for long car trips but the aim of every journey with kids is surely that they sleep as long as possible!! Car window shades were therefore at the top of the list so we were really happy when Cheeky Rascals sent us the Outlook Auto Shade to try out and here is how we got on with them:

outlook car shade
happy and fully protected from the sun

The car shades come in two different shapes (square and rounded edges), fit most car doors and block 90% of UV. The fitting was really easy once I figured out that it simply covers the whole door which I have not seen before!

There is an elastic band with a little clip that is hooked under the bottom of the door. The length of this is fully adjustable and I think I had it a bit too tight in the beginning as it wouldn’t attach and I got hit in the face by the clip a couple of times but this was completely my own fault!

Fitting the Outlook Auto Shade

I have to say that I have never seen a system like this and was a bit sceptic as once it’s on, you can’t open it without opening the door but when you have an energetic toddler you soon realise that this is probably the best feature! It is impossible for them to remove the shade or play annoying “up down up down” games which is definitely a bonus.

What is also nice, is that the kids can still look out of the window but the top is pretty much blacked out so they are not exposed to the sun.

The other great feature is that you can actually open the window and let in some fresh air without having to remove the shades and without the kids throwing stuff out the window!!

Disclosure: for the purpose of this review I’ve been given the product free of charge, however, opinions expressed are 100% my own.
