So you haven’t found your passion yet?

I have asked on social media this week what people thought were my passions and curiosities. This was prompted by Shannon Crow who is a fabulous Yoga Teacher and Coach (if you’re a yoga teacher check out her awesome online community!) to help me niche down my yoga business…

So by curiosities Shannon meant things that I’m interested in, that I want to learn more about but I’m not necessarily super passionate about. Like for me this would be gardening. I like to learn about what grows where etc but I'm not so passionate about gardening that I would happily spend hours on an allotment.

What came out of it was that people knew that I’m passionate about yoga but that was pretty much it. They didn’t know all the things I’m interested in or even some of them. My husband pointed out to me “well, you keep changing all the time”.

passion

And he is right! One year it was salsa dancing, then it was learning Spanish, then it was French history, then it was crochet and knitting, then it was learning how to play tennis, sewing, photography etc etc. So fair enough, obviously nobody could keep up with that!

Passion is talked about a lot. Do what you're passionate about. Well, what if you don't know what you're passionate about? What if you are just interested in lots of things?

As a child I was really into learning about planets, then it was stamps, then it was ballet, then volleyball and that was ok right? Why do we have to have that one thing all of the sudden as adults?

I love learning new things. Yoga has been there for a long time now but it’s a passion which has developed over time. And I still love exploring! I love trying out different styles of yoga. I even tried SUP yoga (yoga on a stand up paddle boat) and Aerial Yoga!

It has developed into passion but it's not set in stone and it is still changing and that's great! You can still explore especially if you have a bit of an issue with committing to things like me!

Watch this video by Elizabeth Gilbert and it might make more sense to you.

So don’t worry if you haven’t found your passion. Don’t worry if you are the Hummingbird type. It's fun to explore and it might just lead you to THAT thing.

What are some of the things you have tried? Does anything stand out for you? Is there a theme?

  1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this niche work Christine. It has been great to get to know you a little better — first, with the podcast episode you were on and now with the workshop.

I totally get what it feels like to want to just take in so many interesting topics. In my experience, this has helped me in my yoga offerings and with the consultation calls that I do. The Elizabeth Gilbert video finally gave me clarity on a different way to find my passion.

I feel like this niche work is never-ending and fluid. Thanks for being on the journey and for sharing yoga in your community!
