1. The Pebble on the Rock

There are many variations to this pose but we love the little pebble on the rock. It's a lovely stretch for the rock and the pebble feels safe and supported!

Start by coming into childs pose, then have your child carefully (slowly!!) kneel on the bony part of your lower back (anything else with be uncomfortable!). Once they are balancing your your back they can come into childs pose.

2. Baby Cat on Mummy Cat

This is another really fun pose and usually gets lots of giggles! You could come into from the previous yoga pose (slowly bringing yourself up into all fours) or simply have your child climb on your back. They love both of course!

To mix it up you can add some cat / cow movements so rounding and arching your back to create a little challenge for the baby cat!

3. The Double Boat

The double boat is great for balancing, working together and building confidence!

Start face to face with the feet down. Then hold hands and bring the soles of the feet together. Slowly start to straighten the legs to where you are both still comfortable. If your boat partner is a lot smaller than you then you keep your knees bent - otherwise feel free to straighten them!

4. Partner Downward Dog

Quite challenging pose but definitely a lot of fun and you can make a whole family downward dog train out of this pose.

Have the tallest person come into downward dog. The next person brings their hands just in front of the hands of family member number 1. Then left the legs so the feet are on their back. If you do this with family members that are the same height make sure the feet go on to the sacrum so the bony part of the lower back of the first person.

5. The Flying Bed

I totally made this name up of course! Anything is allowed in family yoga so maybe create your own yoga pose with a really cool name!

For the flying bed we start with the little one's feet on either side of the grown up's shoulders. Bring your knees in towards the chest and they can sit back and then eventually lie over your shins. Once they are stable take hold of their ankles and lift them up! Et voila - the flying bed!

  1. Thanks for this post, I always try to get my little girl joining in when I do yoga at home but we’ve never tried any poses together. I’ve book marked this page so we can have a go when she gets up in the morning.

  2. The idea is amazing to try! I can’t wait to try it for me. I hope it will give a lot of confidence. By the way, I am going to share this post with my brother. He will get some helpful tips from it. Thanks and keep it up!
